I don’t often post other people’s material in its entirety, but the regularity with which I hear the importance of the arts being belittled as some sort of relaxing pastime in the school week prompts me to do so. Blogger Brandie Pettus touches on so many points in her poster “Think children don’t need art in the 21st century?” that I also strive to reach in my classroom work and indeed my own work as an artist.
