Alongside my educational work I keep a studio practice going making series of paintings. More extended documentation can be found on my website https://petersansom.art/, but here is a small selection and a little documentation of working process:
Best paintings I’ve ever made?
Good things come to those who wait…
Family art exhibition and reunion
New year – the same old resolution

Great! I feel they express freedom and life restrictions going hand in hand. There is always a way out 🙂
Thanks Viljenka…your interpretation is certainly in the direction I hope for with my work!

Your paintings are great! I love the mix of the hefty shapes, with the natural elements. It reminds me of the massive rocks in the mountains of north Wales and the big skyscapes and birds and trees that share the same space. 🙂
Thanks Patricia, I really ought to do an update of the page sometime as things have moved on a bit since those pieces….but as so often seems the case, so many good intentions, so little time!
Hope you have a great summer holiday with lots of inspiration 🙂
These are beautiful! I can see your soul in them!
Thanks….!
Some of your paintings seem inspired from Richard Serra sculptures! Are they? Either way, they’re great as paintings, especially with those birds and the blue sky 🙂
I would be lying if I didn’t own up to a bit of Serra influence Mira. His work has always interested me! Thanks for the positive feedback, it’s always nice to hear a compliment!
I’ve seen Serra’s work in a museum once and was fascinated by the rusted steel and the sheer presence and seemingly contained tension of it all. Your paintings, on the other hand, seem to be about freedom. They feel very liberating.
Thanks for the kind words Mira. Interestingly I wrote a post about Serra only two months ago…..

….keep up the good work with your own blog, there’s a lot on it!!
Hi Peter, thank you for the article 🙂 As for my blog, I hope to revive it and also write more on it. I have been contributing articles to a writers’ site and that place, unfortunately, has dwindled to only a few contributors. So now I’m back on WordPress, which has a nice community too 🙂
Yes, finding the right forum for discussion and exchange isn’t always easy…..the discipline of doing the writing also has its challenging moments!
